Cal Slayton Sketchbook Volume 1
As I mentioned in my post about my 2010 goals, I wanted to publish a sketchbook this year through one of the print-on-demand sites. Well, I'm happy to say I can check that off my list.
Cal Slayton Sketchbook Volume 1 is now available through Lulu. It's a 64 page, full color, perfect bound 8.5" x 11" book. It contains about 180 images. Comic book work, commissions, rough sketches, vector art, sketch cards. It's a huge collection of work I've down over the past several years.
I got my first copy the other day and think the printing turned out pretty great. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I hope they can keep up that consistency because it looks nice. Here are a few photos I took of it. You can also see a bunch of preview pages on Lulu.

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn Pin-up
Here's a new piece I did in trade for a Spookytown pin-up. Went a little of my comfort zone with this one. I wanted to do it without the usual think black lines outlining everything and define the shapes with colors as much as I could. So after I did my rough sketch, I blew it up, light-tabled it under my Bristol board, drew it in blueline pencil and then colored it with markers. Here is the finished piece and the rough sketch. Hope you like it.

Brent Schoonover on Spookytown
The awesome Brent Schoonover whipped up this incredible Spookytown pin-up for me. I haven't seen the actual piece yet, just this jpeg. Can't want to have this bad boy in my hands. I haven't done my image for him yet, he's holding off until later. I believe he's going to be doing a new porject of his own and wants me to do something with it. Looking forward to it. Thanks Brent!
