Sketch Card Commissions

Here are a couple of commissioned sketch cards I just finished. It was cool to draw two characters I've never tackled before. Darth Talon and Magdalena.

Sci-Fi Expo 2010 Thanks

Big thanks to everyone who came by my table at the convention this past weekend. Had a pretty decent show considering it was more sci-fi than comic book. Thanks to Ben and Mark for having me, I always appreciate it. Here are just some of the commissions I did. For some reason Supergirl and Harley Quinn were big players, did three of each. Couple of Wolverines. Two of those Captain Mal / Dr. Horrible mash-ups shown here. Two Zatannas. Hit Girl (first time drawing her), Willow (also first time I think), Psylocke, Joker (as Mad Hatter with Harley/Alice), Lara Croft, Jayne Cobb (who I got to meet at at the show) and also from Firefly, Wash ... "I am a leaf on the wind - watch how I..."

The Pro Preview Card

I just finished all my cards for "The Pro". I sent them off to Steve at 5finity and he said he'd get Amanda and Jimmy to approve them. No pressure, right? Luckily they're all approved and here is the one I'm allowed to preview. Hope you like it.

Latest Quick Listoon

Here is the latest Quick Listoon.

I like this strip a lot, I'm happy with how it turned out. Usually right when I get these, I'm thinking, "Man, how am I going to draw that?" Like the intestinal parasite. But eventually I work it all out and come up with something. The lovely Mrs. and I have just recently starting watching "Breaking Bad", so when I read the words "meth lab", I knew exactly what I wanted to.

The Pro Sketch Cards

I got my blanks in for my next set for 5finity, The Pro. That's right. The comic by Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. Now, for full disclosure's sake, I've never read the book. But I have flipped through it once and I've pulled enough reference images to feel I can do a decent job on the cards, but I am by no means an expert, so cut me some slack on the finished pieces. If you are unfamiliar with the book, it's fairly adult to say the very, very... very least, but the cards won't be. It's a parody of superheroes and the main character is a prostitute who is given super powers. Soooo, don't buy it for your kiddos.

Starting my Sketchbook

Or Art Book or whatever. A book with a bunch of art. Some finished pieces, some doodles and rough sketches. Most of the stuff you see here are finished pieces, pin-ups and stuff. I'm in the process of collecting all the images and getting them into an InDesign document. Once I have it designed, I'll publish it through Lulu or some other print-on-demand site. My plan is to have it ready before Summer. There is an upcoming show I want to be able to sell it at. A show I haven't announced yet, just waiting for them to update their site and make it official. Anyway, I'm excited to be working on it bit by bit between freelance projects, can't wait to have it in my hands.

P'ups Preview Card

I just mailed off all my cards for the "P'ups: Pin-ups and Puppies" sketch card set featuring Dean Yeagle's Mandy and Skoots. Each card features a girl and a puppy. I'm allowed to show one preview image before the set comes out and here it is. Hope you like it. I should be receiving blank cards for the next set I'm doing for 5finity any day now. I'll announce that when they come in.

Firefly Journals - Jayne and Mal

Just got in some of the Firefly/Serenity products from my online store (mentioned a couple of posts back). These are the spiral-bound journals/sketchbooks. The pages are blank so you can do whatever you want with them. I've got Jayne and Mal (or a generic Browncoat) designs up there now. Hope you like them.

New Firefly Stuff in my Store

I added a new design to my online store. It's a Jayne Cobb (Firefly and Serenity) design similar to my previous Browncoat design. I have t-shirts and journals right now. If anyone wants to get it on a different product, just let me know. Adam "Jayne" Baldwin is coming to the Sci Fi Expo this month, it would be a super cool time for you to get something Jayne-y.
